Before the Interview
Arrive on time, ideally 10–15 minutes early.
Bring all materials you prepared the night before.
Be courteous and respectful to everyone you encounter.
Silence your mobile devices.
Avoid wearing strong fragrances that could be distracting.
Enter with a positive and confident attitude.
During the Interview
Listen carefully and ensure your responses directly address the interviewer’s questions.
Connect your skills, achievements, and goals to the organization’s needs.
Use specific examples when possible, such as the S.T.A.R. method (Situation, Task, Action, Result).
Highlight the strengths of your experience and training without focusing on perceived gaps.
Communicate clearly and concisely, avoiding filler words and unnecessary tangents.
Maintain appropriate eye contact; if there are multiple interviewers, engage with each person.
Be mindful of your body language, demonstrating confidence and attentiveness.
Observe the workplace and interactions to gain insight into the company culture.
If you do not already have it, request contact information or a business card to send a follow-up note.
After the Interview
Send a thank-you message within 24 hours.
Reflect on your performance and identify areas for improvement.
Consider what you learned about the role and organization, and how they align with your goals.
Be prepared for additional interview rounds, depending on the employer’s process.
If you receive an immediate offer (which is uncommon), express appreciation and request time to evaluate it. Ask about the decision timeline.
If you have not heard back within the stated timeframe, follow up once by phone or email to reaffirm your interest and inquire about next steps.
